Hyperthyroid

I am a 37 year old female, who in the last couple months have had dibilitating rapid heart beat, sometimes lasting days, went to the E.R and told me, Tachycardia , did blood work, all negative sent me home still feeling awful, went to dr. And said the E.R did not do a thorough thyroid test, went today for the tests. I have most of the symptoms of hyperthyroid , but I'm scared it's my heart. Can hyperthyroid cause heart problems? Thank you, I'm really scared

If the anxiety is related to hyperthyroid--I found that the only thing that worked for the anxiety , panic attacks and shakiness is the beta blocker----- it is not addicting and it also controls the rapid heart rate. It worked well for me and now that my thyroid is controlled I was weaned off the beta blocker.
Good luck to all of you :)

In the last few months I have been experiencing bad heart problems a constant racing heart, ive been rushed to emergency many times with a heart rater of 250 bpm. Ive had every test under the sun to get to the bottom of it. My last doctor visit last week i told him that my glands in my neck have been swollen for awhile now. he sent me off for a ultrasound on my neck the next day i got a phone call to come see him ASAP, turns out i have a 12mm Suspicious nodule on my thyroid gland that is looking like it may be cancerous. Mine you my thyroid levels have been fine in the last 5 blood test i have had in the last 2 months. So after all that it turns out that this may be the cause to all my heart problems, and i have been told my heart is perfectly healthy. but i can barely do anything without getting a racing heart, and have just felt so under the weather lately

Just thought you might want to know, the doctor told me my blood tests for my thyroid were normal. Now I'm wearing a heart monitor for 3 weeks. I don't think there's anything wrong with my heart. I think I have panic/ anxiety issues due to not feeling well, which makes it worse. I'm on Buspar for the anxiety and it helps, but I still feel horrible especially after I eat, I'm starting to wonder if it's a digestive issue, I am rambling, thanks for listening

Yes, hyperthyroidism can cause heart racing - would certainly test TSH to screen for hyperthyroidism.

hyperthyroid causes alot  of problems,,,nervousness, hand tremors,  in some people ringing in the ears, palpitions, anxieties, loss of appetite, loss of weight, hard to fall asleep or keep u from sleeping long, muscluar movements tht wake u, head pressures, racing thoughts, im not a doctor but just speaking from exprience.....ive had ultrasound of the thyroid and the goiter and eveything was normal..than they did an uptake scan of my thyroid and found maybe a small nodule but very nonspecific..so they couldnt exclude a hot nodule possiblility...so my dr said 95 percent of nodules are benign and put me on tapazole .5 mg 2 times a day...because my thyroid was overactive...im also on 0.5 lorazepham 2 times a day but am tapering dn tht medication so i can get off it, to much side effects, its not helping my sleep much... only my anxieties.....if your having sleepless nights or are anxious,..if the doctors put you benzos like ativan, xanax, or any meds in that catagory pls be careful not to get addicted to it...if you can try something natural like maybe hot tea, or valerian extrat pills which r over the counter drugs and less addicting...always chk with ur dr...good luck and take care
