Not sure?

I'm 27 and have been having muscle shaking/weakness spells, severe sensitivity to cold, fatigue, heart racing, confusion, irritability and blurred vision spells for 12 years.  I also sometimes have a strange numb kind of feeling in my mouth area.  12 years ago went to endocrinologist, neurologist, gp, cardiologist and no one found anything.  Diagnosed with possible hypoglycemia.  Have had symptoms during this entire 12 year period, but sypmtoms have gotten so bad lately I frequently lose balance, cannot write, cannot drive. The symptoms are now present almost all the time. Symptoms seem to lessen with eating a high sugar meal but return later.   Symptoms are always terrible when I wake up.   A fasting blood glucose at the lab was 88 and a blood glucose at the lab during severe symptoms was 96.  Recently, the endo got me a blood sugar monitor and all my test results are normal.  All thyroid workups came back normal.  The endocrinologist didn't seem to think it was an endocrinology issue but I cannot seem to find anything else that explains the symptoms.  I cannot function anymore-and the doctors are not helping me!  Thank you! Thank You!

yes I agree with kate. get copies of thyroid labs and post them, you could just have antibodies for Graves or Hashi's and labs aren't showing it yet. You need tsh, free t-3 and 4 and the antibodies tests. Tgab, tpo, tsi, I don't know what ones for sure. Also the b-12 and iron like she said too.

Have you been checked for adrenal diseases?  Cushing's, Conn's, or pheochromocytoma?

Always get copies of your labs and maintain your own file.

If this has happened for 12 years and you have normal thyroid labs during this time period -- it's not thyroid.

Hypoglycemia is relatively common -- even w/ normal sugar levels -- would consider trying small frequent protein based meals (ie, eat every 3 hours).

You've had the appropriate specialty evaluations, if symptoms persist consider a university based or Mayo Clinic type eval.

I do recognize these symptoms as being thyroid BUT I certainly think a look into nutritional status e.g. anemia: Iron (other tests associated: Ferritin and TBIC), B-12, Folate (aka Folic Acid) as well as Vitamin D  should be looked into.
My suggestion to you is 1) google Vitamin B-12 deficiency, anemia, Vitamin D deficiency and 2) Get blood labs to look into this.

If you doctor is unwilling, this can be done on your own (save for Vitamin D testing) via healthcheckusa. Code 12345 will take 10% off your order.

What tests have you had and do you have the results? Note, you are entitled to copies of your blood labs (just ask).

Good luck to you!

Your doctors and tests ruled out among other health issues, thyroid and blood glucose and  endocrinologist didn't seem to think it was an endocrinology issue.  Keep checking other health areas.  I don't recognize your symptoms being thyroid.  Have you tried the other related forums, you might get some guidance.  Ears and eyes might be another good area to check, if you haven't already.   Good Luck!
