I have Hypothyroidism

Hello, I have been diagnosed with hypothyroidism for a 2 years it was caused by trauma I take Levothyroxin 75mg. I have a few questions first I experience both hyro and hyper symptoms. First I lose a lot of wet then I gain a lot of weight and I am recently experiencing high heart rates especially during bedtime I get scared to sleep because I don't think I would wake up. I am scheduled to see a endocrinologist this week I also have a goetor on the right side of my neck. I am only 22 years old and I have high blood pressure, low sex drive, depression. My question is what should I be asking my doctor to do to help me?

If caused by trauma....would confirm that it was not a head trauma with pituitary problems as well (which makes the TSH lab unreliable).  If this is not the case and your thyroid levels (TSH/T4) are stable, then would look into other causes of the symptoms (ie, non-thyroid).

First off I would be concerned about the dose your on if your having the symptoms of Hyperthyroid your dose might be to high or you could be reaction badly to the synthetic drug you may need the natural or dessicated thyroid medicine. Also there's another drug called Cytomel it's like the synthroid your already on you need more of the T3 hormone but your body produces more of the T4 hormone synthroid is the T4 hormone and your body will convert it to the T3 you need Cytomel cuts out the middle man and it's just the T3 hormone.

Also I would be talking to my doctor about possible removal of the goiter anything over a centimeter can interfere with swallowing and breathing it can give you sleep apnea which can give you a whole whack of new and annoying symptoms and sounds like you have more then enough already.

Quick tip avoid Soy products they can reduce the amount of thyroid hormones you produce and throw your thyroid levels off even more.
