Lab Results

Hi. I have been dealing with hypothyroid for about 2 years now, which is still not under control. I am currently taking levothyroxine 0.15 mcg each day, with an extra pill 1 day a week. I was also on Cytomel for 2 weeks to try to get my tsh under control, however I am not on that anymore. I dosage was increased about 5 weeks ago now and I am feeling more tired and have more symptoms than I have ever had. Dr. repeated the labs yesterday and they are as follows:
TSH 97.62
T4 Free <0.25
Thyroperoxidase Ab 4930.9
Antithyroglobulin 1768.8

I am just wondering what these results may indicate, I have only been diagnosed with hypothyroid, unspecified to date. She also did a test called a Creatine Kinase under a Cardiac panel and that result came back at 206, any indication of what that is too would be helpful. Thanks, any answers would be great!

The high CK is due to muscle damage from the hypothyroidism -- 206 is a mild elevation and will correct once the thyroid is fixed.

You need to be on more medication and perhaps be evaluated for any problems with absorbing the medication.  Your levels are very low and close monitoring to ensure that you are responding to the higher dose is imperative.  Work closely with the endocrinologist until things normalize.

The antibodies indicate Hashimoto's Thyroiditis -- an immune system atttack on the thyroid -- the most common cause of hypo.

I think that is the incorrect amount of levo that I am taking, I have to check actually to be sure, but I think it's a higher dose than that, it's been increased numerous times. I'm losing my mind it seems like these days!!

You are definitely hypothyroid with the autoimmune disease called Hashimoto's.  Your antibodies are attacking you thyroid and that is why you have a really high thyroperoxidase Ab and anti thyroglobulin count.  There is nothing that can be done about the Hashi's but you need to be on meds for the TSH.  The higher the number, the lower your thyroid.  I don't know about the Creatine Kinase.  I would ask your doctor about these findings.
