Lump on adam's apple

I apologize if I have put this in the wrong section. I am unsure what to call it due to the doctors not having a name for it.  For over a year now, my 10 year old daughter will get strep or a throat virus and a couple of days later as it is clearing up she develops a large lump right on top of where her adam's apple is.  It ranges in size from grape size to golf ball size.  She has been looked at by her pediatrician as well as an ENT with Children's Hospital.  They did an ultrasound and it appeared to be a fluid filled sack.  They say it is more than likely a gland getting an infection, but are unsure.  It goes away on it's own but it is very concerning to me.  I don't know exactly why this happens, why it goes away on it's own and if it is dangerous.  I've searched the internet and can't seem to find anyone with the same problem.  I am going to be calling the ENT again of course, but would like to get some outside advice if at all possible.  She says it is itchy and feels like it is pushing on her throat.  She doesn't have any trouble breathing I think it is just more annoying than anything.  It is squishy, not hard and doesn't hurt her.  But she is very self-conscience about it.  Thank you for any help you can provide.

It may be a thyroglossal duct cyst (midline neck -- moves when patient sticks out tongue) or or branchial cleft cyst (usually to the left or right of midline).  These are more ENT issues than endocrine issues and often require surgery for definitive treatment.

Hi, Have you thought about taking her to see a endocrinologists, sounds like a cyst possible on her thyroid. I have one and will have it removed this week, Medication did not shrink mine. They can do ultrasound, Find a doctor that treats thyroid. sounds like it is in the same location as her thyroid. GL.
