Nodule with calcification and swollen node

My doctor wants to have my 7mm throid nodule biopsied becasue it contains calcifications and a swollen lymph node (also being biopsied) was also seen on ultrasound.  I thought the general rule was that nodules under 1.0cm were not biopsied because they are too small and it is hard to get a good sample.  What kind of false positive/negative rate is there for this?  I'm pretty confident in having the biopsy done as its being done at Hopkins - I'm just worried about the results being wrong due to the size of the nodule.

Thanks.

The nodule is small at 7 mm.  However the presence of calcifications as well as a prominent lymph node in the area should prompt biopsy of a least the lymph node and possibly both the lymph node in the nodule.  You are in good hands at Johns Hopkins university.

Is your swollen node on the same side as your nodule? How swollen is it? Is it extremley enlarged or just a little bit? I have a 1cm nodule that was biopsied and came back benign(I wasnt really confident about where it was done) now, 6 months later I have an enlarged node  I go tomorrow for an ultrasound
