Parathyroid Adenoma with no function?

I had an ultrasound because my primary physician felt enlarged thyroid. The ustraound report showes the following: " Thyroid size 4.8 x 1.6 x 1.8 cm ( R) and 4.9 x 1. 4  x 1.8cm (L),  with difffuse heterogenous echotexture with may be related to thyroditis.  There was a small 1.0 x 1.4 x 1.8  cm hypoechoic nodule adjacent to the inferior pole of the R hepatic lobe which may present parathyroid adenoma and clinical correlation is recommended."  CBC, Metabolic panel, TSH, T3, T4, PTH - everything is normal.  in particular, my calcium was 8.9 and 9.2 taken a week apart, and PTH is 24.5.
I am scheduled to see endocrinologist in 2 months from now. It makes me quite anxious that I have " parathyroid adenoma" with normal tests. I am 32 y.o female with no medical history.
What it could be? I touched  my neck, trying to find where the nodule is, now my lymph node got painful in my neck, behynd the ear, and even in my breast.

I bet this is a lymph node "reacting" to the thyroiditis - would test TPO and Tg antibodies to see if this is Hashimoto's with current normal thyroid function.
There are non-functioning parathyroid enlargements that have been described - in which case, testing the calcium annually would be appropriate.
In either case, it is a low-risk situation.

Hi, I had 2 parathyroid adenoma's removed 5 weeks ago, and I had, and always had a high blood calcium level. Always in the upper 10's.  I also had a normal PTH level, anywhere from 17 to 49.  It did bounce around.  Now, my blood calcium is 9.7 and PTH is 24.  If your blood calcium level is normal, then I wouldn't think you had a adenoma.  I am glad you are seeing and Endocrinologist.  I also have thyroid nodules, and I have to have scans every 6 months to "Watch" them.  I was told anything over 1cm should be FNA, but so far, they have not done that to mine.  Hope this helps, and also, hyperparathyroidism causes lots of health issues, and you can find lots of info on the symtoms on the net.  I had them all!  Bella1950
