Partial Thyroidectomy

Hi
I just had a partial thyroidectomy (Right lobe romoved due to a nodule that they needed to biopsy) on April 16th.Ever since my surgery my left side of my tongue has been numb.  I have been getting hot flashes and lightheadedness/dizzyness.  I was wondering if this is normal or not.  I called my Dr. and the nurse said that this has nothing to do with the surgery.   It feels like I have cotton in my throat and I feel like I am choaking.  It is worse when I lay down.  I am scared that this will not go away and that I will have to live with this choaking/numb tongue feeling forever!.   Please let me know if this is normal or not.

I had a right lobectomy back in November for a nodule as well. I still have numbness in my neck and chin from the surgery. It very slowly gets better over a long period of time. Just have patience. I'm sure you'll be okay.

Give it some more time - these types of symptoms usually resolve in 3-6 weeks and may be a transient problem related to the surgery (although not typical).
