Hello Dr. Lupo,
In March, I had a thyroid uptake test and ultrasound and my results are as follows: T3 - 0.87 (range 0.80-2.00), T4 - 1.2 (range 0.7-1.8), TSH - 0.61 (range 0.50-4.50). It was also stated that "moderate homogeneous radiotracer uptake in enlarged bilateral thyroid glands is suspicious for Graves disease". Both lobes are slightly enlarged. My thyroid impression is "mild diffuse thyroid enlargement".
I am seeing an endo doctor because I have been diagnosed with subclinical hyperthyroidism and multinodular goiter about 5 years ago. I have had one biopsy of one of my nodules and it was benign. I am currently on no meds. I am 46 years old and have a very low vitamin D count and taking meds for that but otherwise healthy. My symptoms include intolerances to heat and cold, bowel changes, unexplained anxiety/depression, exhausion, unexplained weight loss and heart palpitations. I have been having these symptoms for years but no one has put me on medication. I have a follow up with my endo doctor in September.
Can you explain what those results mean?
Why haven't I been put on medication?
What other tests needed to make a more accurate diagnosis of whether or not I have Graves?
