RAI

Having RAI tomorrow and my TSH went from 14 to 64 in 2 weeks once I stopped the cytomel however I have not gained any weight.  The day of surgery I was 136 and once I started the LID I got down to 126 and now I have been holding at 130 for the past 2 weeks.  Is this normal being that my TSH is so low?  Everyone told me to expect weight gain once I went hypo.  I am just worried that means that maybe the cancer has spread to another part of my body

Everyone is different regarding weight and hypothyroidism -- this is somewhat unusual as typically we see some gain, but this is not a concern --  and the weight gain by no means suggests that the cancer has spread anywhere.

Acctually it is very good that your TSH high. That what they want before RAI. My went from 10 to 165. And now (6 month after rai) and taking 137 mcg syntroid it is 0.02. Please do not panic? I am shure your cancer did not spread but they will do whole body scan 7-10 days after RAI to make sure. What kind of cancer did you have? How large? when did you have TT? How old are you?

You are going to be fine. Love,Sveta.
