Should I wait

I am a 59 year old woman and I had a partial thyroidectomy about 20 years ago due to nodules and cysts.  The biopsy was clean so no cancer.  I have recently had another ultrasound because of thyroid enlargement.  I have nodules with  calcification on the other half now.  I had a needle biopsy done and the report said there were not enough cells to determine anything.  My endo said to wait 6 months and do another ultrasound and possibly another needle biopsy later.  I know the calcification means it is a greater risk of it being cancer and I am wondering if it is wise to wait 6 months instead of doing a surgical biopsy.  I want a second opinion, but don't know if I should go to another endo or throat specialist.

Yes - would get a second opinion.  Calcified nodules carry a higher risk of cancer, but in this situation the calcification likely reflects the long-standing nature of your nodules.  We usually repeat FNA in 2-3 months in these situations and would do so w/ onsite adequacy assessment to confirm a good sample.
