Roughly 60mg of Armour - can take as 60mg once a day or 30mg 2x/day then recheck levels in 6 weeks and adjust the dose if necessary.  One problem with armour is it is difficult to fine-tune as there are not many dose strenghts.

I just had the same question asked of my doc. I got yhree of the same answers that you often read about on other sites. 1) from an endo> Armour is the old way of handling thyroid problems, 2) You never get the same chemicals doses because its pig thyroid. Sme say its a combo of pig, cow and a few other animals, LOL. 3) It is too hard to fine tune the dose because it comes in grains vs mcgs, so synthroid is easier to prescribe. From what I read here on the message boards, I don't see any proof that synthroid, or generic levoxthyroxine is any better at regulating thyroid problems. Seems pretty touchy either way you go.....but as you know, it's just an opinion that is typically disputed according to your own experience. Personally, I think some people don't need help making T3, so the docs don't feel the need to prescribe T3. However if the body runs on 4 hormones, I find it hard to believe we can do without 4 in a medication. Its like an organ in our body. When it comes out we will hear it said"oh you can live without that." Well, than why did God give it to us? LOL
