I went to see a Dr, concerned that I might have a thyroid problem. I was gaining weight rapidly despite regular exercise and feeling lethargic beyond the norm. I was displaying all the "common" hypothyroidism symptoms, but my bloods came back normal.
TSH 1.560 uIU/mL
T4 9.0 ug/dL
The Dr decided I was anxious and suggested I try some Valerian from the health shop.
I was unconvinced of his diagnosis and found another Dr who ran a full blood panel.
TSH 2.180 uIU/mL
T4, free (direct) 1.14 ng/dL
This test was 5 weeks after the previous bloods.
Although these results are still in the normal range, the Dr felt we should begin treatment since my symptoms were completely indicative of hypothyroid. I started on Nature-throid NT1/2 and Iodoral 50mg daily.
10 weeks later my bloods show:
TSH 6.630 uIU/mL
T3, free serum 3.0 pg/mL
So, my TSH has gone UP even tho I'm now on the Nature-throid.
I don't understand this?????
I've been increased to Nature-throid NT1/2 twice daily for 2 weeks, then three times daily after that.
I've been on the twice daily regimen for 6 days now, and I feel WORSE. I'm more exhausted than ever and completely emotional - today I cannot stop crying.
Does anyone have any explanations for my crazy symptoms and the unusual way my TSH levels seem to be reacting?
I've left a message for my Dr, but in the meantime, I need someone to tell me I'm not going nuts!
