"ill-defined" can sometimes mean suspicious nodule but in the right lower pole can also be due to hashimoto's thyroiditis -- would correlate w/ TPO and Tg antibodies as well as TSH. If that's all normal and this is truly a potentially suspicious nodule on ultrasound, then a repeat FNA to confirm benign may be appropriate.
Thank you, I will talk with my ENT regarding some additional blood work.
Hi Dr. Lupo, got results back from antibody test - negative they said...should I still be worried about 2.4x1 cm nodule in lower right pole..any quest. I should be asking my ENT? My tsh reflex is 0.31 pcp says very low "normal" but I've lost 17 lbs in 1 month, racing heart at times, don't sleep very well (maybe 3-4 hours of good sleep)...pcp says maybe I'm low end of hyperthyroid? Very confused and still worried about that nodule..any advice..thanks again..
