Thyroid nodules with normal blood work and no periods?

I am 25, with 2 children 2 1/2 years, and 7 months.  About 2 months ago I was experiencing symptoms of Postpartum Thyroiditis such as: fatigue, depression, mood swings, and lack of period.  I got my period back about 4 months postpartum, which was very heavy.  Then it was another 6 weeks before I got another one, which was normal.  Then I came down with a cold, with a bad sore throat.  I finally went to urgent care after about 4 weeks of sore throat.  They did a strep test, it was neg. but she noticed how my thyroid was enlarged and recommended that I had some blood work to see if it was functioning normal.  The blood tests came back normal, and the doctor told me that it was not Postpartum thyroiditis.

She sent me for an ultrasound, that came back showing a couple nodules.  I am going to the doctor this week for a F.N.A..  I can't seem to find any information on why I am not having my period, it has been almost 2 months now, and I am not pregnant, so where is it??  Why would I have normal blood work, but not menstruating?  I know breastfeeding can interfere with periods, but I stopped about a month ago, and still nothing.  With my first baby once it was back, it stayed very regular until my second pregnancy.  I am just confused, and any info would be great.  I just want to know why my thyroid would have nodules all of a sudden, along with other symptoms of thyroid problems, but normal blood tests?!  Very confusing to me......

I also have a recently discovered thyroid nodule and I missed my periods for 8 months along with a few other more annoying symptoms. All of my Thyroid related labs results have always been within normal limits and the OB/GYN can find nothing wrong. I figure there must be some things that we just don't know yet.

My advice is get everything checked but try not to worry about it. The more I researched the more convinced I became that what I needed to do was simply to eat better, sleep more (hard I know with young ones), and get more exercise. My periods eventually returned just as mysteriously as they disappeared and I feel much better.

Research the thyroid. Look up patient blogs. Look up your symptoms and thyroid,.There most likely is a connection. I can't over emphasize the importance of research on this.

The nodules would not cause lack of periods unless the thyroid levels are abnormal -- would continue working w/ GYN to figure out why no periods -- it may take some time after stopping nursing.

The nodules may not be "all of a sudden" -- just recently discovered, the FNA will help in confirming they are benign.

You could have had a thyroiditis but by the time labs weree done, things normalized....
