I have the "high" problem when my T3 level gets too high. It's only taken me 3 years to figure that out. My TSH can be good, but if the T3 is too high, look out. I'm afraid to move off the couch. I finally found a doctor that agrees with me on this, so now I'm only taking T4. At this point we are still working on this, but so far things are looking like my system is converting T4 to T3 pretty well and I may not need the extra T3, or very little.
Hi! Yeah, I asked my endo quite a while ago if this could be a "transient thing" & he said he doubted it. I am just so fed up with the head thing. Because of the thyroid condition (supposedly), I am menopausal now. I haven't menstruated for over a year and I just turned 42 years old! Blood work from my Gyno confirmed the menopause. From what I understand, the dizzy/"high" head could also be symptoms of the menopause. I am not on any meds for that because the doctor wanted to get my TSH levels down & see what symptoms still remain - if any!! Then we can treat it from that end. My quality of life sucks because of this. I feel like I'm drunk or high all the time, and TRULY, IT'S NOT A GOOD THING!!
Any advice?
Not likely to be thyroid storm. The TSH is coming down quickly -- you may want to decrease the dose to "ease" into the treatment of hypothyroidism. Also, consider the possibility that the initial TSH of 16 was transient and that long-term treatment may not be necessary.
Hi FreeBird82,
Have you had your adrenals tested? Your current symptoms sounds to me like the hormones are circulating in your bloodstream but not being taken up by your cells. Its the adrenals that carry the hormone. This would in effect make you slightly toxic with headaches, jitters etc. This has happened to me several times as I carry on my battle with adrenal support.
Good luck to you.
Wow, this sound just like me. My head 'almost' hurts, more pressure than pain and I can't relieve it. I suffer from migraines also and this pressure isn't that, I am dizzy most of the time too. It's hard to explain the feeling. I'm not on any meds. My TSH is 1.28, haven't yet been diagnosed...but dr's seem to think I have either Graves or Hashi's because of my high TPO. They are testing my T3 & T4 and other antibodies, so I'm hoping to get some results next week. I'm just learning about this stuff so I hope I make sense. I hope you feel better soon.
