High TSH, normal T4/T3 after regular thyroxine intake

Dear Dr Lupo,

I have full thyroidectomy 1.5 year ago after diagnosed with papillary thyroid cancer. Regular blood test for T3, T4, THYROGLOBULIN are within range but TSH is 18.6 uIU/mL. I am also taking 150mcg thyroxine, my body weight 65 kg

05/26/2007
TSH 17.8 uIU/mL

07/05/2007
TSH 16.9 uIU/mL

09/22/2007
TSH 14.9 uIU/ml

01/13/2008
TSH 18.6 uIU/mL

At this instance, how do I bring down the TSH?

Best Regard,
Weetak

You need to increase the thyroxine dose - the TSH needs to be low ( no more than 0.2-0.7 depending on extent of thyroid involvement.  Tg levels should be low - ideally below detectable limits, but in general, less than 2 with the high TSH levels you've had.
