Your nodule is 3.1 centimeters (cm) in greatest dimension (one inch is 2.54cm, so this is just over an inch).
Presuming you have normal thyroid labs (blood test called TSH) - the next step is a fine needle biopsy of the nodule. 5-10% are cancer -- -so most of these are benign.
Hi. I had a mass on my thyroid on the right side in August 08. The doctors found three nodules. One on the left side and two on the right. The two on the right measured over 2cm. I was told as long as they are under 2cm that they are not really concerned about it.I had a biopsy done that came back inconclusive so I had the right side of my thyroid removed in September. Turns out I had two tumors that were non cancerous. I was not put on thyroid meds because the left side is still working fine. They do keep an eye on my thyroid with blood work and they keep an eye on the nodule on the left side. I was told that most nodules that are cold are non cancerous.
can anyone read my measurements and tell me what size my nodule is please
i heard the opposite, if nodule is warm, its benign...its all so confusing
It is confusing, just like breast cysts they say are almost always non cancerous, what they fail to say is that cancer can be hiding behind those cysts. My suggestion to tee is to contact the doctor and request a more laymans breakdown on what the measurements mean. Most often doctors forget we need it put in terms we can understand.
