having joint pain

Hi, I have been diagnosed and treated for hyperthyroid disease, my numbers were huge, just went through the RAI treatment 3 days ago, my question is about my joints, the inside of my elbows and my fingers and my right heal have been bothering me for at least 6 months, is this related to my graves disease?  If so, will the problem go away after my hyperthyroidism is corrected?  sometimes the pain is so bad. thankyou, lynette

It could be that this happens if the levels fall too much or go up to fast, like when you move from hyper to hypo and vice versa.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
This may be related to Graves/Hyperthyroidism and treatment should help - it may take 1-3 months for levels to normalize after RAI.  Follow closely with your endocrinologist to make sure things are regulated.

I get that , I have hypothyroidism AND Hashimoto's . I recently lowered my dose to 100 mcg synthroid, it was 112mcg I crossed over to hyper and got the joint pain and I know when I was hypo, I got the joint pain too. This past week I have been pain free.

Hi! When I have this I am usually in hypo ranges (very low, near the bottom) I am On Methimazole. If you aren't monitored and your levels really bottom out after RAI you won't see an improvement, if anything you'll feel worse. You have to have optimal labs to feel better. Make sure you get labs done in the next week or so.
