TPO antibodies are commonly seen in autoimmune thyroid disease such as Hashimoto's and Graves. There are patients with autoimmune thyroid disease who have normal (negative) TPO antibodies. And there are patients with high TPO antibodies that have normal thyroid function - although they are then at higher risk for developing future thyroid problems.
