hypoglcemia, hypothyroidism and chest pains

My husband is 40 year's old and has had hypothryoidism and hypoglycemia for several years. He takes one 200MCG tablet of levothroid every day. REcently, he started having severe chest pains. Last Sunday, they were so bad we took him to the ER where they performed all sorts of heart tests and determined it wasn't his heart. They also performed an ultrasound and upper GI and the technician performing them told my husband he saw no signs of reflux or abnormalities there, yet his doctor called him two days later..after being released from the hospital with musclerelaxers and pain pills...to say that she now wants him to take nexium because the test showed "some irritation".  His chest pains never went away with the GI Cocktails they gave him in the hospital (3 different times), so why are they prescribing him nexium? I am worried that he has some underlying problem that may be connected to his hypothyroidism or hypoglycemia and recently I found out that levothroid can cause serious side effects like chest pains. What should we do? Do we get a second opinion? Do we insist on a stress test (which wasn't performed in the hospital) Should we have them check his glucose levels (I have checked them here at home because sometimes he starts feeling "doped up" and dizzy so I check the levels here). Today, one hour after eating sausage eggs and two pieces of toast, his blood sugar was only 72....is this the whole cause for his problems? ARe we dealing with muliple problems? HELP!!! I don't trust the doctors here in this little town. Our nearest big town is Council Bluffs, Iowa or Omaha, NE.
ANy advice would be appreciated!!!
Sincerely, Lori

72 is a completely normal glucose.

If the thyroid levels are normal, the thyroid is not likely the cause of symptoms.

Synthroid does not usually cause reflux, but possible.

Would follow the advice of your doctor -- seek another general internal medicine opinion if appropriate.  Often a negative cardiac stress test offers a therapeutic peace of mind...

Surely they checked his thyroid levels. An elevated TSH can cause chest pains. and acid reflux can as well.

Then when the chest hurts anxiety pops up, "is it a heart attack" and that can bring on even more chest pain.
As much as possible, he needs to rest, and eat a bland diet for a few days.

72 is not too low for a glucose, but one hour after a meal might be a bit low. Check it again, one hour after a meal. But I don't think that would be the cause of chest pain.

synthroid caused me severe acid reflux. with no medicine helping to get rid of that.

hope he gets some relief soon.
