medicine

Hello, I am trying to find out what medication options I have. I am taking 50mcg of levothyroxine and I am still very tired. When I started taking it felt like there was a knot in my throat but it went away the second day. Today I told my doctor I was still very tired. She said to stop taking it, but I told I felt really bad and asked her if there was any thing I could do so she suggested I take 2 of my pills. I did and felt very nervous. She said it would not do any good to change medicine because all thyroid medicine is the same. I don't know what to do any suggestions.
Thanks,
Tara

It may take longer to feel better -- sometimes these medications are started based on "borderline" labs -- this is why the doctor may have been torn between simply stopping the medication VS increasing the dose.  Give it some more time and re-evaluate with your doctor in 6 weeks with a target TSH of around 1.0.  In most cases adding cytomel (T3) does not usually help, but this would be an option.

I take Synthroid 50mcg, I have no problems. Just a heads up, it took 6months before I started to feel better.
