parathyroid

I am 37 and I have been ill now for 8 months with, fatigue, High and Low Blood Pressure (Hard to Control), Racing Heart beat, muscle weakness along with numbness in legs and arms, dizziness, vision problems, recurrent infection in the sinuses and lungs, irritability, acid reflux/gerd, cramping in calves, shortness of breath, painful periods, sweating, depression, some nausea, stomach ache, and thirst. Not necessarily all of these at the same time.

The problem is that my PTH has been up and down all year.  It was 97.8 in January and 81.6 in August. My calcium has been ranging from 9.8 to 10.7. My ionized calcium has only been elevated once at 1.34 in August. My vitamin D was 15.3 in July along with low cortisol three out of four times during the day and an elevated Norepinephrine of 90.6. Serotonin was at 67.7. I have had a dexascan which was clear. They have done several 24 hr urines that they say show nothing.

I have consulted with Norman Parathyroid Clinic in Tampa and they told me they did not feel due to the inconsistent results that it was a Parathyroid Tumor and told me to keep searching for an answer.

The doctor says that they saw a small nodule on my left adrenal gland but since it is so small and the 24 hr urine was normal they did not see the need to do further scans yet I get sicker. I have had muscle weakness for two weeks now. I am beginning to get very concerned. Any direction would be helpful. If it is not a Parathyroid tumor how do I fix these inconsistent numbers. They have tried to give me vitamin D but it made me sicker.

You need aldosterone and renin together so you can get a ratio.

The renin test are all fine. I'm not sure about aldosterone. My potassium was fine as well.

This sounds a lot like my symptoms.  I have primary aldosteronism.  How is your potassium?  Have you gotten aldosterone and renin blood tests?

Would consider a mayo-clinic type evaluation.

It looks like they have excluded pheochromocytoma with the 24 hour urine.  The PTH and calcium and vitamin D all suggest primary hyperparathyroidism...
