You should probably be tested to make sure you are hypothyroid. If you are, then prescription medications like synthroid, levoxyl, armour, cytomel should be discussed -- the most common is synthroid or levoxyl type treatments. The homeopathic remedies are not proven to work and vary quite a bit in terms of ingredients. In my experience most weight gain is not thyroid related, but it is more difficult to lose weight with true untreated hypothyroidism.
Dear Nobby,
Please advise on what basis you know you are hypothyroid. Did you have blood tests? If so what tests, and what were the results?
If you have hypothryoid, it should be detected with blood tests and it can be treated with prescription medication, which should help address the weight gain.
What is the homeopathic medicine you are taking? Homeopathic medicines may not be very helpful if you are hypothyroid, as you will likely need to take thryoid hormone replacement medicine.
