reasons for fluctuating TSH

What are some of the reasons why someone would have a fluctuating TSH level, even within a very short period of maybe a few days to a week? Do you have any references indicating how much a value can change if someone claims they have not done anything different in between the two tests?

The TSH may fluctuate 0.5-1.5 points.  The normal range is thought to be 0.3-3.0.

TSH- thyroid stimulating hormone  is a hormone excreted by the pituitary gland, there is a lot of disagreement on what is the "normal" range. How much of a difference are you talking about ? Higher TSH levels indicate a hypoactive thyroid and lower than normal levels indicate hyperthyroidism. Initially, many thyroid disorders begin as hyper, and then turn hypo. If your levels are fluctuating I really doubt it has anything to do with what you did or didn't do. Your thyroid is out of whack.
