Dear Dr. Lupo,

my friend is 2 months after TTE and her latest blood results are     TSH  0,03 /0,32-5,0/, FT4  18,77 /10-25/,  FT3  FT3  3,6 /4,4-9,3/. She is taking 100  thyroxine.  She does not know if she has to lower the dose, because of low TSH. But her FT3 is too low as well.

Thank you.

Looks like the TSH is low suggesting too much replacement, however the other levels do not suggest too much.  It depends on the reason for the TTE and the pre-op TSH -- if it was for hyperthyroidism and the TSH was very low before surgery, it may take 4-6 months (or more) before the TSH becomes reliable.
