thryoid uptake results

Hello,  Would you happen to know what these uptake results mean?  My dr. has no clue.  I was off thryoid for 5 weeks when this uptake was done:

"abnormal labs"

on 9-29 the patient ingested 486 icu of I-123 orally. The uptake of the scan was measured at 6 hours and 24 hours. at 4 hours, 4.5 of activity was recorded but at 24 hours only 1% of activity was recorded. These values are below the limits of normal and suggest that the thyroid gland has been blocked.

A thyroid scan was done 24 hours post oral ingestion with multiple scintigraphic images of the thyroid made. The scan is inadequate for evaluation with very limited amount of I-123 uptake limiting counts resulting in inaqequtely visualization of the thyroid gland.

IMPRESSION
1. the thryoid uptake values are within the hypothyroid ranges measuring 4.5 at 4 hours and 1% at 24 hours.
2. The scan is inadequate for evaluation due to very limited amount of uptake.

thank you

I know i have hashimotos.  I know i have thyroiditis.  Is it worth having the test repeated or is that a waste of time?

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
low iodine uptake can occur due to excess iodine in the body, thyroiditis or being on thyroid hormone replacement treatment
