You should see a thyroid (endocrinologist) expert who does their own ultrasounds. A biopsy is ultimately likely needed. The I-123 scan is not likely to add much -- even if "normal" would recommend pursuing further evaluation by a specialist.
my blood test came back normal my doctor said on the ultrasound they couldn't tell if it was a nodule or not they could only see that it was a large solid mass he said it maybe a goiter so hes having me have a nucular scan
This needs to have a biopsy. 90% of nodules are benign, but most nodules >1cm needs biopsy, particulary with the increase vascularity (blood flow). I-123 nuclear scanning is NOT indicated (unless the TSH blood test is low).
