I am a hypo patient who was treated by a quack for 8 years. He never did blood work and used applied kinesiology to determine whether I needed to up my dose or not. Anyway, around the age of 30 (I'm 34) he decided to take me from a 1 grain armour to a 1 1/2 not too long after that he took me to a 2 without blood work. About a 1 1/2 year ago I demanded blood work because my hair was so thin and the white hair on my face was getting longer. My TSH was .01 at that time. Looking at photos from that time I can see the changes in my body from thinning hair, to a flushed face and weight gain of 35 lbs. Prior to this I never had a weight problem. Sure I went up and down 5-10 lbs, but nothing like this. I did everything I could and couldn't get below 125 lbs to save my life. Only after my current ENDO weaned from meds did the weight come off without any lifestyle change. I'm now 116 at 5 2. My current TSH is 6.36. The goal is to get me to a 1-2. We will go over the rest of my test results next week in his office. No other red flags other than a slight increase in prolactin 26 range max is 20. I was pmsing that week. He is not concerned.
I had to wait to get blood work until recently due to lack of health insurance. So I have been off of meds since sept. While I have typical hypo symptoms I still have facial flushing, long white facial and longer leg hair. I don't have PCOS. I have been through this with 2 gyns. Testosterone was normal according to the nurse over the phone. So back to the original question, can too much meds for an extended amount of time cause cushings? If so, will it reverse itself. The dr did a blood cortisol test and no red flags there. I do have a small amount of fatty tissue in the back of the neck between the shoulder blades. If not cushings, can too much meds cause any of these symptoms and will they reverse themselves in time?
