tsh jumping around

Hi,  2001had graves it was treated with radio active iodine which pretty much destroyed it.For about the last 1and half yrs. was on 200 mcg of snythyroid. Tsh on 11/27/07 was 0.138 so doc said suppressed, although I felt fine. decreased meds to 175 mcg
on 2/7/08 tsh was .23 doc said still not good lowered it to 150 mcg on 4/9/08 tsh was 4.49 and I could tell felt lousy
started back on 175 dose 6 days and 7th day took half one, tsh on 6/11/08 was .26 so now told me to take 137mcg 5 days and 1 and a half dose on day 6 and 7 which equaled out to average 156 mcg. now on 9/23/08 my tsh jumped to 6.39
and I feel lousy.I feel fine on the low end but doc's only concern is that is hard on your bones by the way I'm a 60 yr old female.Any suggestions to why this is happening? Will see my doc 10/6/08 I don't know how we can reach something that works. Never had all this much problem before. Thanks for your input.Peg59

Sounds like a dose between 175 and 150 would be perfect (162.5) -- usually a TSH of 0.2 or above is not associated with problems, but the usual target is keeping TSH between the low reference range for the lab (usually 0.3 or 0.4) and about 2.5.  Make sure you take it the same way every day, 30min before food, no generics (in this case, to make sure it's stable) and without other pill/supplements.  Alternating 175 and 150 (ie every other day) is another option.

Thanks for the input. What did you mean about without other pills or supplements? I take my snyth. first thing in the morning and wait at least 30 min before a meal, but I do take my prilosec about 15min or 20 min later since it is suppose to be before meals, but I have always done that.I also take lisinopril, about an hr. later and atenolol small dose 25 mg. 2hrs later other meds I take at bedtime and no suuplements. Thanks again
