Are these foods/ingredients allowed on a low iodine diet?

I'm scheduled for RAI in about two weeks, and reading the guidelines given to me, regarding my diet, there are still some unanswered questions.

- Is it okay to use a salt substitute? It has no iodine or sea ingredients, merely made up of only a few compounds.
- If a food says "may contain milk, or salt, or soy, etc." am I still able to eat it? (My cocoa powder says it may contain milk, so am I still able to use it to cook?)

All the help is appreciated, thanks in advance!

Any salt that doesn't contain iodine, i.e. Kosher salt is good. Anything with milk products or that may have been exposed to milk should be avoided as iodine is used to clean the vats that hold the milk prior to distribution.
