AUTOIMMUNE

I have an overactive thyroid.  My T4 counts are off the charts  1800.  This didn't happen until I had a cath scan of my heart using iodine.  I am highly allergic to it.  I have gone into anifalaytic shock before.  Could this of caused my thyroid to go crazy. The medicine I am on PTP  makes me very ill.  Drs say they can't do anything until my counts go down    SOMEONE PLEASE HELP

Pertechium (Gadolinium) is the dye used for Cat scans and yes it does contain Iodine and many thyroid people are allergic to this dye (myself included).

I assume that you are on PTU and if this doesnt agree with you then ask your Doctor for Methimazole or Carbimazole.

I was on both Carbimazole and PTU and found that I couldnt tolerate PTU.

If your levels are very high then you should also be on a beta blocker (Inderal or Athenol) to avoid any thyroid storm.
You dont say what the reference ranges for your labs are.
Also request FREE T3 and FREE T4 and not the regular T labs as they are grossly outdated now.
And have you had the TSI (thyroid stimulating Immunoglobulin) test to test for Graves Disease antibodies?

As for a Cardiologist injecting Pertechium while you are hyperthyroid...that is madness.

What dosage of PTU are you on?
And unfortunately...the Doc will want to wait for those levels to come down until anymore is done.
