Jackie, kl42, how is it going so far with the Acella NP Thyroid? Would love some more input on how it's worked out for you. I think I'm going to give it a try.
Cheers, Carmen
Hi tifereth, I went to Costco today in Montana and at first they didn't know what I was talking about when I asked for Acella. I kept on them and told them to look up NP thyroid and they might find it. She said "Here's something, says Ace", then she clicked on it and there it was. "It's Acella" she said. In just a minute more of her typing on her computer she said "I'll have it for you tomorrow" No problem. So I think it is readily available if we can get the pharmacist to look a little deeper. If they say they don't have it just persist.
Agreed Kevin...it is as good or better than the original Armour- the thing is, it is not the equivalent of the current Armour and should not be given to people as generic Armour (even though it may be better, it is not the same) I flipped out a couple of months ago as I noticed my bottle said Acella and I suddenly thought I had my magic answer as to some problems I had in the past thinking I had been taking something different---here it was Armour pills in the mislabled bottle so they really goofed up. My pharmacist never even told me they were giving me something other than Armour. Once I figured out I had never taken Acella and really had problems on the new Armour, I obviously embraced it---but a tiny thing like a different filler or inactive ingredient can make all the difference in our health. The new Armour made me quite sick....cellulose, go figure.
same as old armour even better
I've done a little bit of research on this - not a lot, but some - and from what I see Acella is not a "generic" of Armour. A generic is a product made by another company that is equivalent to the brand name. Acella is not equivalent to the current Armour formulation, therefore, is not a generic of Armour.
Jackie Armour is trying to sell armour not another brand thats why i think they would say that
it seems to be back and available now. i get it at Target here. in NJ. their website says its back in production.
...I was worried when kl42 reported there was a shortage.....at this point, my pharmacy has some on the shelf. I still have another months supply on hand and have never been out. I spoke directly to my pharmacist about making sure they can have it for me. I am slightly concerned about needing it in the distant future but for now I will take that gamble because it is worth it for this med. If it ever changes like Armour did, I will goback to compounded, but until then- I love my NP!!
hi. i am, like you, trying to find an adequate supply of np thyroid by acella. i found two walgreens stores that have a few pills in stock, and that's it.
i called the acella offices in georgia and the lady that answered said, due to high demand their supply ran low, but now it is available. my phone call was about three weeks ago.
i am very concerned about stopping erfa thyroid, which i am on currently, and starting np thyroid by acella unless i know there is dependable supply that i will have access to.
jackie419 has also posted her concerns about acella np thyroid not being in stock where she lives.
kl42 is the only one who is able to get it.
and its considered a generic copy of the old formula
its better its a copy of old Armour!!!
Well....straight from Armour Thyroid....NP Thyroid is NOT a generic of Armour, although pharmacists think it is! I was told by Armour's pharmacist that there is NO generic for Armour...just FYI.
When I tried to locate it here in Ohio, initially the pharms couldnt find it, I kept saying Acella....finally they looked under NP thyroid or just thyroid, manufactured by Acella, and there it was.....
lot of others have it . it's a generic Armour . and most insurance like the generics!
You can request that they order it for you. Most pharmacies are accomodating when they get a script for something they don't have on hand. However, they can carry whatever they want to carry, so if you don't have a relationship with the pharmacy, you might have to find another that does carry it. Have you tried ordering it online? I don't think there's anything you can't get online any more.
