Amiodarone effects on thyroid

I have just received my test results and all are abnormal TSH - too low; T3 & T4 somewhat high.  I have been on amiodarone for 2 years, a very small dose for the last 8 months.

Are these effects reversible or am I looking at a lifetime of thyroid disease?

Thanks
Peter

I was on Amio for 18 months. It was discovered that I had TSH of 38. I can't tell if the Amio caused it or I had it anyway. I've been taken off amio, today,  and put on Rytmonorm, 150/day. It does not affect thryoid. I await if it affects anything else.

I won't say much as AR has already given you sites to visit. But I will say Amiodarone is reknowned to have a big impact on thyroid function if you already suffer from thyroid disease. If the thyroid disease has been caused by the Amiodarone, you can get a lesser effect when the drug is stopped, but whether it is totall reversible, I'm not sure.

This one has lots of big words.

This one is long, but easier to read.

It sounds like the effect can be temporary, or not.
