Anxiety and thyroid HELP!

Hi, I  am 55 years old and was diagnosed with hypothyroidism about 15 years ago.I am now on  100mg Synthroid and about 6 months ago I went to get my blood work done and they told me i needed to go on 112mg. I took it the next morning and i started having BAD heart palpitations!  I thought I was going to have a heart attack! VERY SCARY!!  I called the doctor and they told  me to take  100mg on one day then 112mg the next and so on..Well that didn't work either!!Still having panic attacks! I have been having anxiety since I was 17 years old and now I'm not sure if all these symptoms are just from my thyroid,Synthroid or it just runs in my family! I really don't know where to go from here ! I've always been super sensitive to medicines which adds to the problem!I've heard of the natural thyroid and was wondering if maybe should look into that!! I also have to take Lorazepam to calm my anxiety! Can anyone give me any good advice!!

T4 med takes a long time for the body to use. A different pill mcg size of only 12mcg's alternating daily should not make a difference, which is why your Dr feels comfortable with this.

But, you can only expect a change if you try something different in dosing or the med brand / type itself. Although T4 meds work alone  for most, they dont work for about 10% - 20% of low thyroid sufferers, which is the reason S T T M site exists. If something doesnt work, make a change of some type.

Hypo symptoms that surprise some people that are similar to hypEr:

Palpitations and anxiety. That could possibly be your case too.

We nned to see your lates labs to give you input though, TSH is not enough.

I get heart pals whenI need more thyroid med.

An additional T3 med, after the body gets use to it can relieve brain fog and clarity often accompanied from long term T4 med use.

Magnessium glycinate by KAL and mag CALM powder mix relaxes the mind and complete body when taken before bed, Mag needs to be 4 hours from thyroid meds.

I moved on to natural dessicated pig thyroid, it works better for some of us.

I'm not in the "know" as much as everyone because I am still new, but it sounds to me like your dosage needs to be lowered, and maybe t3 added?

It depends on the labs though. Do you know what your current TSH, FT3 and FT4 are?

Also, I think you need to bring this concern up to your doctor again. He needs to know that alternating the medicine every other day was no dice.
