Any residual symptoms?

Hello everyone.  I was wondering how many of you are on the right dose and still have symptoms that will not go away?  If so, can you share what it is?

Like Ar said, bump means I put your post to the top of the page for more people to see.

I had to respond after your last post. I too, get the weird eye thing. It isn't nystagmus (I have been tested up one side and down the other over the last 14 years), but I say my eyes get "jittery". My light sensitivity has improved, but I also used to get that.

I had 3 seperate vertigo attacks since 1994. I was misdiagnosed with Meneiere's Disease- inner ear problem. I knew I never had that and the meds for that never worked. It wasn't until last year that I really began to suspect my thyroid. Of course, all the doctos I saw (many of them very good Top Docs from major hospitals) said my thyroid was fine. My TSH finally climbed just high enough to be diagnosed by an endocrinologist as "treatable if I wanted to". My current endo is wonderful and he said my Hashi's should have been treated years ago.

To answer your original question, though, my answer is no.
I was almost to a good TSH. It was 1.42 and we were going to increase my dose to get it below 1. The endo is willing to let it go to the bottom of the range. I started to feel dizzy, hair falling out, tired, etc. Then my TSH tests at 5.1. My dose has been increased, but I am not sure it wil be enough. Now the waiting begins again.

The only thought I have is you are not stable yet, and from the responses I see, nobody else is either.

I don't think anyone can really say they are stable until they have been on the same med dose for a year. Then the question that drives us all insane; are your hormone levels correct for your body?

Being on the same dose for a year doesn't do you much good if it s not the correct dose for your body.

Does my body need a TSH of 0.5, or 1.9? Who the heck knows. Ask me after they twiddle with my meds for a few more years.

Regarding hair, I believe it grows about a half inch a month. Six inches a year. Any hair sticking out of your scalp is dead. You can shampoo and condition and do lots of things to it, but it's dead. It may take months to see any change in how managable your hair is. That would be months after you have found the correct hormone levels for your body.

Oh, yeah. "Bump" means "I don't know, but here's a free ride back to the top of page one".

I have been on 137mcg for 7 weeks now for Hashimoto's.  Things have definitely gotten better for me, however, I have a strange problem with my hair that no one seems to be having.  I believe it is caused from my thyroid, because I have seen changes in it with upping and lowering my doses. My TSH is normal now, and this is where I will be. (My doctor and I have tried 150 mcg, but it was too much). The thing with my hair is that the texture has changed drastically.  This all happened before even being diagnosed.  It is soo soft, I can't style it.  It doesn't hold any type of styling product.  Feels like there is conditioner in it when it is wet.  I have a little hair fall, but nothing alarming.  Everyone who has low thyroid seems to say there hair is dry and brittle.  Mine seems the exact opposite.  I am also having problems with light sensitivity in my eyes and nystagma (eye fatigue with involuntary jerking).  This happens like twice a week.  I am giving the medicine a few more months to see if this eye thing goes away, then I'm going to go to an eye doctor.  As far as my hair, I am wondering if it could take years to go back to normal, since it took years of slowly changing to what it is now.  Any input from anyone?

Yes after 2 yrs of treatment I still suffer with hypo symptoms......BUT.....I found a new endo and fired my old.....when I went to the new endo he told me I am still sick because I have Hashimotos and have been undertreated this whole time. Talk about mad!!!  He said that if you don't suppress the tsh to a .50-1.0 , you will remain sick if you have hashi's. I told him my old endo had never ran any antibody tests ever. Now I understand why i have remained sick.
Also, I wasn't converting T4 to T3 very well, so now I am on Armour with both in it. Unfortunately it is always a waiting game with new dosage increases or new meds. It will take at least 6 wks to know if I am at right dosage.....then it can take a short time or a long time for symptoms to go away. It seems to never be an overnight fix.
