Yes, be strong and get those results. Just sound firm. They are required by law to give them to you. I've been around the block with several doctor's offices, too. Know how you feel. I didn't learn to be tough until this past year and a half of going through this.
You should have reported that first endo!! A vaginal exam in an endo's office!!!! I feel like screaming!
Ferritin is the storage protein for iron. It is the best indicator for aron deficiency before it becomes anemia. I only mention this b/c many hypo patients have a low ferritin. Of course mine is low and the PCP says I don't need iron!! It's just one more of several test, that if abnormal, can make you feel crappy!
Maybe type another post called RAI and sore throat. That may get more attention.
I copied and pasted below your questions here is what I know
You said:
A good multi vitamin with high levels of b's is good. Have you had your ferritin checked?
Antibody levels? Other hormone levels? Cortisol?
Me answer:
None that I know of. What is ferritin? I havasked - but when I mention these tests to my MD he , (i feel) dismiss them)
You asked:
Can you remind us what your latest blood test levels are?
ME:
I went three weeks ago for blood work due to needing ##'s on the new med I was given Armour. It really has eased the misery I had on Synthyroid. I was on 120 mg Armour so when the test came we would have numbers. I felt a little "high" before the test. I called and indeed they wer elavated. I was instructed to stop the meds for one week and pick up a new dosage of 60mg (1/2!!) and take that 1x day. Two days after stopping I felt great. I brain stormed and thought "OK today i feel good. maybe I should get my blood done TODAY to see if any thing changes. and thought maybe this would provide a baseline number for my MD to use when "levels are off' I called and Got another test. I do not know what my numbers are at the present time. The receptionist at the office has intimadated me calling me a hypocondreac. (man can't spell that) I am kinda reserved to call the office to get a copy of the blood work sent to me. Sounds crazy but that's how I feel. I have been through such bad doctors you have know idea. The very first endo did some very innappropriate things to me vaginal exam for 1 hour) for my thyroid condition!!I left him and went to another who burnt it out and then said I was having a brain anyrisim. left him and went with a pill pushing PA who never checked my blood regular and was on .50 Synthyroid until almost went into Hypo coma. He sure had me laced up on Xanax through - I was on a .50 tablet 5 to 6times a day. and another similiar tablet at a 1.0 at bed ZOMBIE. I just recently found this MD via friend who is my lab person who draws my blood. Phabotomist (can spell that either) He IS good. Armour has helped the brain fog and confusion. Lost 5lbs on those 3weeks and overall feel better somewhat. I just feel like if I push I'll lose this one.
Why i worry about cancer. My throat is always sore. and feels like I have something stuck in it at all times. It has been that way since RAI. (that's where the brain anyrisum diagnois was given -- I had a ct and it was negitive FYI) What is stuck in my throat? Scar tissue? Swollen organ what? So me I think it's more serious. I am more than OK with being patient - but 5 years for Graves disease and now hypo?? What the heck.
I need to grow a back bone and call to get those results. I was hoping to review then at my next visit on 2/27. but I see another month as eternity.
I don't know anything about RAI beyond what it is. Sorry, but los of others here do.
Nodules would be found on a thyroid ultrasound. What makes you worry about cancer? (besides worry :) Feeling the neck can detect nodules, but won't find smaller ones. I have 2 nodules 1 cm. At >1cm, they will do an aspiration to check the cells.
Can you remind us what your latest blood test levels are?
