Blood drawn and arm pain

I had some blood drawn today for my labs and for the first time I'm having some pretty bad pain in my arm. Is this normal?  She only stuck me once but had to root around a bit to find the vein. Now, my entire arm is very sore and weak. Even my bicep hurts.  Is this an issue?

I've had that happen to me.
They may have hit a small nerve in your arm.
It shouldn't last more than a day or two, but Joni65 is right. . .if it still bothers you, or the pain gets worse, I'd give the doctor a call.

It is possible that the tech went through the vein or not enough pressure was applied to the site after they with drew the needle and a small bruise my be forming.  If the pain still persists tomorrow maybe you could call the office and have them take a look the site and your arm.

The next time you have your blood taken ask them to use a butterfly needle it's much smaller and less discomfort.  Also sometimes the vein will roll and then the tech will have to search for it and this is uncomfortable.  Next time you have a blood draw let them know they had to search for your vein and request they anchor the vein first before they penetrate the skin with the needle.
