Can Ct scans cause a heathy thyroid to malfunction?

6 months ago I was given a A1C test because I am diabetic and my thyroid was fine...no history of problems my whole life.  In 2007, I had nodules on my lungs and my army health care providers ordered 2 CT scans one only days apart and then 2 more 3 months apart.  So, I had 4 Ct scans within a short period and now, after the results came back from my A1C test, I have hypothyroidism and was put on synthroid for life!  zI suspect that I may have grounds for a lawsuit.  I was also schedule for yet another CT scan with contrast for May 07, 2008 which I promptly cancelled anfter a few minutes on the net reading about the exposure to radiactive iodine!!!!!!!!!  I am furious!  I NEVER had a THYROID problem in my life and now I do and may have increased risk of all sorts of cancers because of the CT scans!  Help me before I lose my mind!

If you have diabetes - that is an autoimmune disorder . So... if that is the case most autoimmune disorders ill develop into others.  I any would not quite yet be convinced the scans did damage.

Please....... post your blood work and answer AR's questions - also list any meds you have been on too.

Relax... breathe

Calm down for a minute.

Do you have type one diabetes?
Did you have contrast dye?
Is contrast dye radioactive iodine?
