Yup I am hypo. They increased it from 75 to 100mg. Is 6.3 really bad?
What was 6.3? Was that a TSH test? You need to have Free T3 and Free T4, in addition to the TSH, each time you test. Free T3 (FT3) and Free T4 (FT4) are the actual thyroid hormones and are the determining factor in whether or not your levels are right.
If your TSH is 6.3, that would indicate that you are hypo and may need an increase in your medication.
Thank you to both of you. I Appreciate it. It does. I'm going to bring my medicine to work with me so right when I clock out I'm going to take it each day. I'll definitely get it re tested. The last test I got said I was 6.3 lower or something
Since you get off at 7:30, I'm assuming that it takes some time for you to get home and get ready to sleep. If your 3:30 am lunch is the last you eat, I'd say you should be fine.
After you've been on that schedule for a few weeks, it might be a good idea to get your levels tested to make sure it's working well. Possibly a small increase in dosage might be in order.
Thats the right thing to do. Getting it into your body is the most important thing, no matter what time.
That's what I plan on doing. I'm going to take it with a full glass of water and nothing else. I'm just mainly curious if it'd be ok for me to take it and sleep right after. I work 3rd shift so the morning for me is when I get off of work. What is anyones thought on that?
I would get into the habit of taking it in the morning and not with calcium. And the same time every day is important.
I do sleep during the day. I eat lunch at 3:30 am and that's the last time I eat. Would it be ok to take my medicine after work and I can sleep right after I take it?
It's typical to take thyroid medications in the morning. The key is to make sure you are taking them on an empty stomach. Depending on what you eat, it could take 4-6 hours for your stomach to empty. Your eating schedule would have the most bearing on when you take them.
I assume that you sleep during the day? Do you eat breakfast before you get off work or after?
Thyroid meds should be taken on an empty stomach, with a full glass of water, then nothing to eat/drink for 30-60 minutes.
