Confused on labs

I have been going through an uphill battle for almost a year now. Switched from 3 different doctors and about to lose my mind. My TSH has bounced all over the placed, has never been in the normal range since I have been diagnosed with Hypothyroidism. The highest is has been is 150..I have hashimoto's as well.. Just got labs back and was told that my TSH is at 91 and T4 was undectable. Im currently on 300 mcg of Levothyroxine. I have been on 400mcg for 3 months before the labs. Im suffering terrible with constipation, headaches, body aches, sleepy, i have gained 80 lbs in 2 years and I  just feel terrible. I was diagnosed with Fibromylgia in October I had 16 out of the 18 tender points. It hurts for people to touch and I cant even play with my kids anymore because Im not myself. They think I have Celiac Disease and Im currently being tested for that next week..no one understands what Im going through. I also have 3 ovarian cyst one being 7 cm and getting another ultrasound in 2 weeks to see if it needs to be removed. Is this due to m hormones being all messed up. Im in constant pain and I just dont think the doctors get it. Can anyone help me understand the labs or point me in the right direction. Thanks

Yes I do keep a list of good thyroid doctors recommended by other members.   I have one that I highly recommend that is located just north of Austin.  If that is of interest to you let me know and I will send a PM with the name and info.

I should have asked you a couple of other questions:

How do you take your meds?  Do you take them first thing in the morning, with a full glass of water, on an empty stomach and then refrain from eating or drinking anything for the next half to one hour?  Do you separate any other meds or supplements you might be taking from your thyorid meds by at least 4 hours?

All these things can affect absorption...

Oh, I'm sorry to say that you desperately need a new doctor.  You simply do NOT tell a patient with a TSH of 91 and an undetectabe FT4 to "go home, and we'll re-test in 6 weeks".  You need to find out what's going on, and you need to find out now.

One of our members, gimel, keeps a list of doctors recommended by members of this forum.  PM him, and see if he has a doctor in your area who knows what he's doing.

Don't suffer for another 6 weeks with no answers.  Your doctor didn't do ANYTHING???  I'm so sorry...you must feel miserable.

Did you doctor test FT3, too?

As you know, you are taking a very high dose of meds.  If your FT4 is undetectable, it's obvious that those meds are not being absorbed properly.  Most absorption takes place in the gut, so if you do have celiac, that could very well ve the culprit...your gut is not absobing meds (and vitamins and other nutrients) as it should.

Have you discussed a different delivery method with your doctor?  Perhaps you could try taking your meds sublingually.  That bypasses the gut as meds are absorbed directly into the tongue.  My endo and I were discussing Tirosint (gelcap, but otherwise the same as levo), and he was really excited about that as an alternative for his patients who took meds sumlingually.

What is your doctor saying?  Is he offering you anything with an undetectable FT4?
