Contraindications of Fish OIls and Thyroid

I am a 57 yr old post menopausal female with perviously normal thyroid function despite nodules.  My labs indicated a recent change in thyroid function to hyperthyroid function. A recent I-123 was inconclusive and uptake was minimal so the MD thinks the condition my be temporary thyroiditis. I have been taking Omega 3,6,9 capsules twice daily for about a year - would this have any effect on thyroid function or the I-123 scan?

I had been wondering the same thing about fish oil - does it contain iodine?   If you google that, it seems that it does;  whether that contributes to hyper?  I doubt whether any studies have been done but it is interesting (I'm hyper at present with a nodule so have been staying away from my usual fish and fish oil intake) to be on the safe side (if there is a side that is safe!!)

The fish oil should have no impact on your thyroid function or the scan outcome.

It is more common to get thyroid problems (hyper or hypo) as we get older.  Would put it down to that rather than the fish oils.
