Could antibiotics cause this?

Wednesday my doctor called and said that I had a large nodule come up on my thyroid sonogram. He is doing a biopsy on the 19th. I felt fine as far as physical symptoms go. He then told me that my urine test showed bacteria so he put me on antibiotics. I started them Wednesday evening. Ever since I got the call I have been really stressed, depressed, upset and just going nuts in general. The slightest thing makes my eyes swell up with tears. Yesterday afternoon I noticed that when I flexed my neck it hurt under my jaw all the way down to my collar bone. I am really not sure where my lymph nodes are in my neck so I don't know if that is what is sore or not. This morning my whole neck is stiff and I have shoulder and a little backpain as well as a headache . My face feels hot and flush too. I in general feel yucky. The antibioics are causing me to have some tummy issues too. I am wondering if perhaps this pain I am feeling is from the antibiotics or could it just be that I have been emotionally strained these past few days. I have been sleeping late too. Or could it just be that I have thyroid cancer?

Well I have been able to calm quiet a bit since yesterday and still this morning work with sore spots in lymph node areas of my neck. It only really hurts when I flex my neck. I can't feel anything with my hand so I am pretty confused.  I also feel like I have a low grade fever. I hoping and praying that this as nothing to do with the nodules and only that I am so stressed that I have made myself catch  cold or something. Or that it is the antibiotics I am taking.

Hey TexMom -

I'm from Tx too!

I've been having problems like you are describing.  Pain under my right ear and under jaw towards my chin.  Also ear feeling full.  I was wondering about lymph nodes myself but could never feel and bumps or anything.

I went to the massage therapist Wed. and she said I had really tight jaw muscles which were pulling my neck muscles.  After she worked on me I am feeling much better.  I have another session scheduled and am pretty confident she will get it all worked out.

So maybe if you're stressing and not feeling well you might be clenching your jaw and making your muscles tight.

Hope you get to feeling better soon.

If the pain I am experiencing is swollen lymph nodes, how would I know. The pain I feel is right under my jaw, kinda tonsil area. My throat feels fine and I can swallow fine. If only I could get my appetitte back I would do a ton of swallowing! hahahaha Did you ever get symptoms of the cancer, even after you were diagnosed?  What lead you to get a diagnosis if you felt fine? Sorry for all the questions, but getting as much info as possible and hearing other's stories brings me alot of comfort.

You poor thing...it sounds like you are having a rough time.  I'd say that what you are feeling is in no way a symptom of thyroid cancer.  Most people with thyroid cancer (me for example) have no symptoms at all---I was perfectly happy and healthy before I got my diagnosis.  If there are symptoms of cancer, it usually pertains to not being able to swallow and having swollen lymph nodes.  It is pretty likely that you are having a bad reaction to the antibiotics you are on coupled with the extreme anxiety (which is perfectly normal, mind you)---I would call your doctor and let them know what you are experiencing, maybe he could change your antibiotics...let us know what happens!  hang in there!
