I have hashimotos. I’m my teens I always had spiral curls but I used a flat iron and dyed it away over the years until I started on thyroid meds now my fro is back. I’m not complaining !!!! Love curls
Just being within the so-called "normal range" does not mean the test results are adequate for you. The ranges are far too broad to be functional for everyone. What are the actual test results and reference ranges shown on the lab report?
Yes!! I had straight hair that turned curly after taking thyroid meds. It’s so bizarre. However, I believe the answer is due to the level of dryness in the hair which tends to tighten and pull the hair because of the loss of elasticity. Is your hair also much dryer and brittle than it used to be? Mine certainly is.
I was diagnosed with Hashimotos in my late teens. Im not sure it's the related but my fine, thin pin straight hair started getting wavy in my early 30s. It gets curler as time goes by.
Thank you for your comment. It does seem that since I have been taking the snythroid, my hair has not been quite as unruly curly as it had been. Hopefully as I continue with the medication, my hair will become totally straight again!!! And the being hot and sweaty will also stop. Thanks again!
My mother's curly hair has turned pretty straight and she has Hashimoto's thyroiditis. She hasn't started treatment yet.
I've never heard of either hypothyroidism or Synthroid changing the curliness/straightness of anyone's hair. Mine always was/still is straight as a sting. I haven't taken Synthroid for a while now, but even when I did it didn't change that.
