Do I have Hashimoto's/Hashitoxicosis

Hello,

i'm waiting for my endo appointment, have been left by GP trying to figure out what the hell is going on inside my neck!

I have a multinodular goitre, lots of small nodules and one larger one, 9mm diameter. I have hyper symptoms of palpitations, anxiety, excess energy followed by fatigue, heat intolerance, mood swings etc. I have had these on and off for years.

My doc has only done TSH and total T4 tests, the first were TSH 3.2, T4 161, second were TSH 3.6, T4 144. They said my T4 was high in 1st test but normal in 2nd test. TSH is stated as normal but I am aware that many would say it is on the high side.

I wonder if I am likely to have Hashimoto's and possibly be having Hashitoxicosis? It would make sense I suppose, I am going to ask for antibody & FT4 tests at endos.

Any ideas? :)

It can be confusing.
I am sure it had nothing to do with menopause- you are way too young. An easy way to know is to have your estradiol levels checked at day 2 and 14 of your cycle. My endo ran those tests on me. I am 41 and no where that time of life. Too many things are blamed on it.

I hope you get more answers at the endo. Your attitude is great!

Thanks - glad I've got something right, it's all a bit confusing!!

I'm 26 and monthlies are regular, so really hope nothing to do with menopause, but the way I've been feeling nothing would surprise me right now!!

Will update with what endo says...am going in ready to stick up for myself!

I had hyper symptoms- insomnia and anxiety- with hypothyroidism .These symptoms overlap with hyperthyroidism.
My TSH was never over 6 and for years stayed in the 3-4 range.

You are asking for the right tests.

Good luck at the endo appt.

Your levels may be going up and down fast enough that your symptoms are overlapping.

Maybe menopause along with thyroid problems?

Thyroiditis?
