If you are interested I have the name of a doctor in Ventura that has been recommended by other members. The doctor also seems to accept most insurance.
I am so sorry to not respond sooner. When I looked up for the 2 responses, I must have misread because it only showed a Dr in Pasadena. I went back today and saw Dr Gonzales in Ventura! Thank you! I will let you know if I go and see her.
I am sorry for the confusion. The info in the link shows as Ventura. What am I missing here?
Thank you for the information. The Dr with 2 responses is not in Ventura, but in South Pasadena and that is too far.. And there is nothing said about how she handles thyroid problems. My last experience was so difficult, I want to know more about what she does with thyroid before I would go that far.
Thank you again.
I just sent you a PM with info. To access, just click on your name and then from your personal page, click on messages.
Yes I would like his name please. Thanks!
Well Barb, I tried a new Dr. Who is an endocrinologist! A very bad experience. I wrote her a letter and cancelled my next appointment. She was younger and would not even listen to my symptoms. Very disappointing.
I am going to go back to my naturopath. I really like him, but I was trying for a Dr. Who would be covered by my insurance. At this point, a few months later I am feeling better than I have in years with more energy and my emotions much better. I will call this Dr This next week and get new labs... Thanks for your help so far!
Okay, now, I understand; thank you for explaining. Wow, you were on quite a hefty dose of T3, weren't you? I'm surprised the doctor dropped you that much all at once, but since he did, your primary doctor should have known better than to also drop your T4 med...
Rule of thumb (where most of us feel best) is for Free T4 to be at about the mid range point and Free T3 to be in the upper half to upper third of its range. In March, your Free T4 was at 52%, which was just barely over the 52% mark, so even though your FT3 was very low, at that time, I can see why you felt better... Once your T4 dose was lowered, it's no wonder you crashed.
So let's move forward now... how long have you been back on the 100 mcg T4? Are you still on the 12.5 mcg T3? Do you take the T3 all in one dose or do you split it into 2 doses throughout the day? When are you scheduled for testing again?
Depending on your next labs, you may be able to increase the T3 med up to 15 - 20 mcg, split into 2 doses (half first thing in the morning, with your T4 and the other half around noon).
I wouldn't make anymore changes, though without retesting to see where your are.
Please explain what you mean when you say your Free T3 had been 9 and you lowered the dose to 12.5, if your side is 100 mcg.
What are the reference ranges for the FT3 and FT4? Ranges vary from lab to lab and have to come from your own report.
