I went on the site for the Red Cross and it is 5 years as long as you don't have a recurrence.
You can also go on the Red Cross website for donation guidelines.
Thanks to everyone who donates blood! More of us need to.
That stinks..........I didn't know it was that long. Boy, it's like having a scarlet "C" huh?
Thats a great question...
I give platelets, since I have a high platelet count. Not sure about that now..
I need to call and check this out too. Just had my RAI in Dec 07.
In our area, you can contact Broward Community Blood Center
I was told by the American Red Cross that you can give 5 years after you have the treatment for cancer and it hasn't returned. So, I had my RAI in September of last year and as long as I don't have a recurrence in between now and then, I should be able to give again in 2012. It really bums me out because I was a regular donor. They have a blood drive every few months at work, and it really feels like another slap in the face that I had the big "C", although I'm very thankful it was found!
If you call your local Red Cross, they should be able to tell you.

I don't think that you can. I think the cancer rules you out. Might want to call your local blood bank but I know that I can't here.
