I'm in Oz and cant watch it lol
OK. She was still too vague calling it a "thyroid condition".
Next segment she is going to elaborate.
She was on HBP meds and anti-arythymia drugs.
4 doctors and they never checked her thyroid levels.
Her Thyroid is "back". She has weaned off all meds. What did she have? Thyroiditis?
Otherwise, the segment is good talking about having a health advocate and getting copies of your health record at every visit. Dr. Oz said there should be a partnership betwen the patient and the doctor. I agree, but hard to find.
I think the thyroid conversation is over.
Oprah seems to tell everything about herself and relationships. Why won't she say what kind of thyroid problem she had?
She may have been hyper to have heart palps and insomnia. (Though I had insomnia and anxiety as a hypo)
I did a quick search and she previously said this:
"My body was turning on me. First hyperthyroidism, which sped up my metabolism and left me unable to sleep for days. (Most people lose weight. I didn't.) Then hypothyroidism, which slowed down my metabolism and made me want to sleep all the time. (Most people gain weight. I did! Twenty pounds!)"
If this was thyroiditis, it may come back again in a more permanent form.
It could be hyperthyroidism controlled by anti-thyroid meds and the meds stopped when she was overdosed and went hypo.
She was then probably told to come off the ATDS because of being Hypo and is now back hyper.
Most Docs make the mistake of doing that.
Just speculation on my part.
Oh well. Show is over and nothing was revealed.
Oprah doesn't have to share her health info, it is personal. But is is annoying for her to hint at it but not clarify.
This is a funny question.
