I had a cat scan for something unrelated to the thyroid. The scan showed that my thyroid was a large, asymetric thyroid, predominantly involving the left lobe with a low density lesion at the inferior pole of the left lobe of the thyroid. It is a lower density lesion measuring 1.6 x 1.3 x 1.3 cm containing a punctate calcification at the lower pole of the left thyroid lobe. Is this cancer or a goiter. Should I see a surgeon first or an endocrinologist?
