Well, of course, her doctor has a lot more information available than I do and would have to make the final decision.  If I were you, though, I'd ask him to keep her meds the same and see what happens to her FT3 in the next few weeks.  If her FT3 continues to rise and she feels better, you won't have to make any changes.  If not, you'd have to ask your doctor about adding in some T3 (Cytomel and generics in the U.S.).

How long had she been on 125 at the time of these tests?

That's a huge improvement over the labs you posted earlier.  FT4 is right where it should be, a little above midrange.  FT3 is still pretty low, but after being hypo for a while, it can take a little time for conversion of T4 to T3 to ramp back up.  When I was increasing, my FT4 stabilized, and then my FT3 continued to rise afterwards.  It can take even longer for symptoms to go away as the body has to heal from being hypo.

As i said, this is a dramatic improvement in labs.  If I were you, I might ask my doctor to consider giving it some time to see if FT3 continues to rise and symptoms begin to abate.  Re-test in 4-5 weeks and see what FT3 is doing and re-evaluate symptoms.

If FT3 doesn't continue to rise and/or symptoms persist, you might have to talk to your doctor about adding in a little T3 to her meds.  It all takes time and patience.  Where hypothyroidism is concerned, nothing happens fast.

Please find below the tests, for FT3, FT4 and TSH

FT3    2.59 pgm/ml    2.0 - 4.9
FT4    1.26 ng/dl        0.7 - 1.7
TSH   0.48 ulU/ml      0.38 - 4.7

Above are the result for the tests,

How long has she been on the increase?  Thyronorm builds slowly in the blood, so it doesn't reach it's potential for 4-6 weeks.  You have to wait 4-5 weeks after the increase before you can re-test and get a true result.  However, she should be tested promptly at that point.

Thanks Goolarra and Sally,

Yes Dr have seen the result and increased the dosages from 100 to 125 of Thyronorm.

But still the same nothing is change.

I will again asked her for test with FT3 and FT4. and come back to you..

Any other advice on test please.

Thanks a lot for your replies,

Cheers!

Those ranges look like FREE T3 (FT3) and FREE T4 (FT4) to me.  Your lab report should say "free" somewhere close to the T3 and T4.

Anyway, I agree with Sally.  Both FT3 and FT4 are below range, and she needs an increase.  Her TSH is also high, indicating the same.  Your mother doesn't need pain meds, she needs her thyroid condition managed properly.

Will she be seeing her doctor soon?

Hello,

your mother's thyroid results show that she needs a higher dose of thyroid meds.

Her TSH is too high, and her other numbers are too low.  They should be at least mid range, not below range.  Has her Dr. seen this results?

Next time her tests should include FT3 and FT4, instead of T3 and T4.

Please let us know if she's seen her Dr yet and if her meds have been increased.

Please post the reference ranges for T3, T4 and TSH.  Ranges vary lab to lab, so they have to be posted with results.  Also, do they say "free" T3 (or FT3) and "free" T4 (or FT4)?

The first thing you should do is make sure that her hypthyroidism is being treated properly.  If her hormone levels are correct (for her), she should not be having pain.

Do you have recent lab results to post?  If so, please do with reference ranges.  Ranges vary lab to lab and have to come from her own lab report.

What thyroid meds does she take?

Any other hypo symptoms...fatigue, depression, weight gain, brain fog, hair loss, lowered heart rate and/or blood pressure, etc?
